Yangnyeom Fried Chicken

Sticky, sweet-spicy Korean fried chicken. National treasure.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken wings or boneless thigh chunks
  • 1/2 cup potato starch (or cornstarch)
  • 2 tbsp gochujang + 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp honey + 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Oil for shallow frying, sesame seeds

👩‍🍳 Steps

    Pat chicken dry, season, and toss in starch until every piece is powdery.

    Shallow-fry in 1 cm of hot oil, 5–6 minutes per side, until deeply golden.

    Simmer gochujang, ketchup, honey, soy and garlic in a pan for 2 minutes until glossy.

    Toss the hot chicken in the sauce. Do not breathe; it burns beautifully.

    Shower with sesame seeds. Serve with pickled radish if you're civilized.
